FAQ

What happens when the money runs out?

The calculator stops at zero. In the last month it credits any interest earned so far and pays out whatever is left, then shows how many withdrawals could not be paid. The balance never goes negative.

Which compounding should I pick?

Use Annual CAGR for mutual funds, where returns are quoted as a yearly growth rate. Use Quarterly for most bank fixed deposits, Monthly for monthly-compounding deposits and Yearly for products that credit interest once a year.

When is interest credited for quarterly or yearly compounding?

Interest accrues every month on the current balance and is added to the balance at the end of each quarter or year. If the money runs out earlier, the interest accrued so far is paid with the final withdrawal.

Are withdrawals taken at the start or end of the month?

At the end of each month, after that month's interest has accrued.

Does it include tax?

No. Capital gains tax, TDS and exit loads are not included. Returns are assumed constant, which real funds do not guarantee.
