Text & dataEncoders

URL encode and decode

Percent-encode a query value or a whole URL, or decode one back to readable text.

Requirements used

  • Component
  • Full URL

Everything runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

When should I use component mode?

Use it for a single value such as a query parameter or path segment. It escapes reserved characters like & = ? / and # so they cannot change the URL structure.

When should I use full URL mode?

Use it on a complete URL when you only want spaces and non-ASCII characters escaped. It leaves : / ? & = # alone.

Why does a plus sign become a space when decoding?

In form-encoded query strings a + means a space, so component decoding treats it that way. Encode a literal plus as %2B.

Is my data uploaded?

Runs entirely in your browser; nothing you paste is sent anywhere.
